How can i help stop animal abuse?

I realize there is animal abuse that some people never see. It makes me sick. I found a video on youtube.com called skinning alligator. The alligator is alive and it shows 9 minutes of a man skinning an alive alligator. Who knows how long that gator lived after the video stopped. This is sickening. Can someone maybe call the cops or something? How can i help those animals or can they even be helped?
